Sourcing and attribution

Where a story follows a report first published elsewhere, we name the outlet and link to it at the foot of the article. We write our own copy. We do not republish another publication's text as our own.

Where a story rests on a single source, we say so rather than implying wider confirmation.

AI assistance

We use AI tools to help draft and translate. Every article prepared this way is recorded as AI-assisted in our system and is reviewed by a person before publication. A model does not decide what we publish, and no article goes live unread.

Naming people

We do not name people who have been detained but not charged, except where they hold public office and the matter concerns that office. We do not name victims of sexual violence. We do not publish private phone numbers or addresses of individuals.

Where allegations are unproven, we say they are unproven, and we seek or note the absence of a response from the person concerned.

Photographs

Photographs carry a credit. Where a photo belongs to another publication we credit them; where we cannot establish rights to an image, we publish without one rather than use it anyway.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Substantive corrections are noted on the article rather than made silently. Minor fixes — a typo, a broken link — are made without a note.

Independence

Akbaat News is published by Akbaat, which also operates a grocery service in Kasur. Coverage decisions are not made on commercial grounds. Where a story concerns Akbaat, that connection is disclosed in the article.

We accept story tips and contributions from readers. Nothing submitted is published automatically — every submission is reviewed, checked and edited before it appears.
